Nagoya University

Nagoya University has contributed to establishing fertile culture and developing science and technology, through creative activity in research and education. As large-scale university with utmost emphasize on research, our goal is to investigate truth by creative research. Nagoya University will educate pioneers for the future who can contribute for society, through free and international atmosphere.

As indicated from the fact that 4 of our past members got Nobel Prize in the 21st century, the research level of Nagoya University has been globally placed high. In QS Asian Top University Ranking 2010, we kept the 10th seat.

  • All the common computers have bilingual environment (Japanese/English).
  • Coop Restaurants introduced signs to show Halal dishes.
  • More than 1500 students from 76 countries and areas are studying, which is around 10% of total.
  • More than 1300 researchers from 98 counties and areas were accepted as visiting scholars or professors.

Faculty of Law

Nagoya University Graduate School of Law has produced many great lawyers and legal researchers as the key university in Japanese central area. From 1990's, we have accepted many foreign student from regime changing countries in Asia, as a part of legal assistance. In 2004, we established Law School to be a center of lawyers' education in this area.

English-taught Education for 160 Foreign Students, Japanese Law Education and Research through Japanese in 4 Asian Countries

We have accepted and educated many foreign students from government and universities, mainly from Asian countries. To train foreign Japanese Law specialist, in addition, we established 4 centers to develop education from undergrad level.

Legal Assistance and Human Resource Development by the Center for Asian Legal Exchange

We have collaborated with government and universities in many Asian recipient countries, foreign international assistance agencies and universities as Sweden, Germany, and UN, Japanese assistance agencies as the MInistry of Justice Internal Cooperation Department, JICA, and Japan Federation of Bar Associations for long years in legal assistance to made reliable relationships.

Advanced IT Infrastructure: Japanese Law Translation Project (Ministry of Justice), Legal Data Sharing Project for Kanji Cultural Sphere

In the Legal Information Institute, we have designed, and is managing databases for the MInistry of Justice (Japan), along with enhancing Kanji cultural Sphere legal data sharing with government organizations and universities from Japan, China, and South Korea. We also are improving data sharing of EU law and Asian law with EU translation bureau.
