Takehiro OHYA

Professor of Jurisprudence,
Nagoya University Graduate School of Law

Takehiro OHYA is professor at Nagoya University Graduate School of Law, where he lectures on the History of Legal Ideas and Japanese Legal System (in English). He also lectures in the Law School on information and law. He was a research fellow of the Graduate School of Law and Political Science, at the University of Tokyo from 1997 to 2001, and wrote his fellowship thesis entitled: Rule and Meaning --- A Basic Theory on the Nature of Legal Interpretation, for which he was awarded an encouragement prize by the JALP (Japan Association of Legal Philosophy). His main fields of research are the philosophical basis of legal interpretation, and the effect of information technology on legal / political systems. He is a member of IVR (Internationale Vereinigung fuer Rechts- und Sozialphilosophie) and JALP, in which he works as a member of executive board from 2009.
