2.Overview of Professional Training Aspects

Gain Knowledge, Hone Research Ability, and Develop Leadership Skills

■ Core Curriculum

Students will:
Undertake introductory courses in law and economics, with an emphasis on theory – primarily at the masters stage, mainly taught in English.
Hone their ability to write high-quality survey papers with help of Academic Writing classes and IT tools that support English writing.

■ Student Think Tank

Students will:
Organize group studies that include participants from a variety of backgrounds and tackle common problems.
Discuss topics of the students' own choice, make proposals for the improvement of institutions within a set timeframe in cooperation with local governments in Japan or foreign governments and receive training in sending information in several languages.

■ On-Demand Seminars

Students may:
Request that the Program invite particular researchers or professionals to give seminars tailored to the students' own interests and needs.

■ International Internship

Students will:
Undertake mandatory international internships or practical assignments each summer.
Be able to choose their internship or assignment and must commit to language training for the duration.
Internships and assignments will include legal assistance and social reform projects, and study abroad at cooperating universities.

■ Research Proposals

Students will:
Propose their own research objectives, including organizing small research seminars or authoring papers.

■ Mentor Network

Students will:
Engage with real problems with the assistance of a global network of mentors including Nagoya University Alumni.
Develop their discussion skills through video-conference seminars given by experts from the public and private sectors and academia who are on the cutting-edge of their fields.

■ Language Proficiency

Students will:
Acquire a high level of proficiency in English and at least one Asian language. Develop professional level fluency through peer-to-peer discussion via video conferencing. The Program will support the development of peer communities through cooperating overseas universities and provide IT support. The discussion schedule will be at the students' own initiative.
