Session 1.Western Civil Law as the Law of Market Economy ・Development of the modern civil society and the market economy in the Western (European) countries ・What are the fundamental civil law principles for the market economy ?

Session 2.How Japan has received the Western Civil Law ? ・Why Japan received Western legal institutions to her culturally different society? ・ How Japan has grafted the Western civil law systems into her society, and how and why the grafting has been successful ? ・Can the Japanese experience be learned by other Asian countries in the process of transformation to the market economy ?

Session 3.Vietnam and Cambodia in the process of receiving the Market Economy Law ・Why and how has Vietnam introduced the market economy law into the country with the communist (central planning economy) regime ? ・How has Cambodia rehabilitated her legal institutions after the Khmer Rouge ? ・How and with what strategy has Japan cooperated with Vietnam, Cambodia and other Asian countries to make their legal system Westernized ?
